A Naira Well-Spent: How ₦100,000 Can Transform a Child’s Future

In Lagos, ₦100,000 can disappear in a weekend (or even a day).

A spontaneous dinner at a fancy restaurant. A new phone or phone accessory. A few deliveries (delivery costs are maddening). A contribution to Aso Ebi.

Or just the rising cost of living, doing what it does best—moving money without warning (warning shots to all the landlords).

We all do it. Spend without a second thought.

But what if I told you that the same ₦100,000, so easy to part with, could keep a child in school for an entire term? Doesn’t sound too strange, right? That is because it isn’t.

What ₦100,000 Means to You vs. What It Means to a Child

First off, I would like to clarify that in no way is ₦100,000 a small amount. I would be amiss to claim that even to billionaires like Otedola, ₦100,000 isn’t significant. The truth is, if you work hard for your money, no fraction of it is small by any metric.

Nevertheless, in the context of how easy such an amount might slip through our fingers unnoticed on an average weekend, at The Special Foundation, the value of ₦100,000 holds a lot more weight.

Over here, ₦100,000 is tuition. It’s uniforms. It’s learning materials. It’s transport to and from school. Sometimes, it’s a hot meal that helps a child concentrate in class. And more often than not, it’s the difference between a dream deferred and a future restored.

For every beneficiary of the foundation, that amount is tantamount to hope. Young Moses would not be able to make it to school if that ₦100,000 wasn’t available to ensure that he has all the tools necessary to not just go to school but to excel. And all these are thanks to the willingness of a few people choosing to make their ₦100,000 matter.

It’s Not About How Much You Give, But How Well You Give

This is what we mean when we say that giving isn’t about how much but how well. We’re on a mission to support the education of 100,000 African children from underserved communities by 2030. Not through grand campaigns or perfect conditions, but through consistent, committed acts of care from people like you.

You don’t have to be wealthy to make a difference. You just have to be willing to look at your resources differently. To see money not as what you lose, but what a child might gain.

So the next time ₦100,000 comes and goes without much thought, pause.

Ask yourself: Could this be the seed of something more? Because when spent with intention, ₦100,000 can be everything to that one child whose entire future could be transformed by it.

So, I urge you to continue supporting what we do here at The Special Foundation by donating and investing in a child’s life.

See you around!
